Welcome from the Headteacher

A very warm welcome to Foxfield School. Whether you are a current parent, a prospective family, or a visitor exploring our community, we are delighted to share what makes our school such a vibrant, nurturing, and inspiring place to grow.

As a secondary school dedicated to supporting pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), we know that every young person’s journey is entirely unique. Our approach is deeply holistic. To help our pupils reach their full academic and personal potential, we always look at the whole child first.

Our dedicated team works tirelessly to identify and overcome individual barriers to learning. Whether that means tailoring bespoke sensory integration strategies, supporting mental health and emotional well-being, or implementing specialist communication tools, we meet our pupils at their point of learning. By stabilising and supporting these fundamental needs, we create a safe, accessible, and deeply inclusive environment where every young person can truly maximise their progress.

At the heart of Foxfield is a clear, passionate ethos: to create happy, healthy, safe, and independent young adults who can confidently communicate their wants and needs. This purpose is woven into our school curriculum, and it is perfectly captured in our Mission Statement and core aim: LEARN.

●     L – Life skills: Preparing our young people for the world beyond Foxfield by fostering everyday independence, practical confidence, and life tools.

●     E – Enjoyment: Creating a joyful, warm environment where pupils love to come to school and where learning feels like an engaging adventure.

●     A – Achievement: Celebrating success in all its beautifully diverse forms. We recognise and applaud every single milestone, big or small, academic or personal.

●     R – Respect: Nurturing a culture of dignity, kindness, and mutual respect, ensuring that every individual voice is genuinely heard and valued.

●     N – New Experiences: Expanding horizons through a rich variety of trips, community visits, creative projects, and activities that broaden our pupils' worlds.

We are incredibly proud of our wonderful pupils, our skilled and dedicated staff team, and the vital partnerships we build with families, multi-agency therapists and the wider community that supports the school. Together, we ensure that our students don't just navigate their secondary years—they truly thrive.

Thank you for visiting us online. Please feel free to explore our website or contact us directly to find out more about our remarkable school community.

Warm regards,

Becky McBride
