Science is a core subject of the National curriculum. However, the orders provide the flexibility to adapt the programmes of study to the ability levels and needs of all the pupils. This is particularly relevant at Foxfield school, where it is more appropriate for some pupils to experience material form earlier key stages than their chronological ages suggest.

Aims of the science curriculum
  • To develop an awareness and interest in the Natural, Material and Physical world.

  • To enable pupils to investigate their own ideas safely.

  • To encourage the skills of observation and problem solving.

  • To acquire the ability to explain the Scientific World using their own evidence.
